Title: The Immortal life of Henrietta lacks. Chapter 12
This chapter talks about when Henrietta died. There was no
obituary for her, but everybody knew of her death even doctor Gey who created
HeLa from the tissues of Henrietta’s organs. When the doctors performed the
autopsy they could see how the tumors had completely blocked the urethra, the
tumors where of the size of baseballs and other organs were covered in small
white tumors. Her whole body looked like if someone had filled her with pearls.

This chapter talks about the massive production for the cells
called HeLa. It was a operation that would produce trillions of cells every
week and it was created with one purpose only, to help stop polio. In the 1951
the world was going through the biggest polio epidemic in history, schools were
closed and the parents began to panicked looking for a vaccine. In 1952 a
scientist called Jonas Salk came up with the first polio vaccine, but he couldn’t
offered to children because he didn’t know if it would work or if it was safe
to used.

The article talks
about how a nine years old kid was found by her mother hanging from a curtain. The
tragedy occur on Sunday when the girl was taking a shower, the mother noticed
that she was taking to long in the bathroom when the mother went inside she saw
the body of her daughter hanging from the curtain. The little girl was taken to
a hospital where she was declared dead.

The police arrested a 77 years old lady with cocaine in her
suitcase heading to France. The authorities moved the woman to their offices to
start the investigation, and find who gave her the cocaine.
